Increasing the employability of highly educated adult immigrants through the evaluation, development and certification of their qualifications and skills.
Background
Adults with an immigrant background often face challenges when settling in a new country and a new work culture. Many adult immigrants have formal qualifications as well as applied knowledge based on experience. Therefore, they have outstanding potential to become successful employees or entrepreneurs. Â Yet, due to an alien system, bureaucratic requirements and cultural differences, the process of economic integration can become challenging, leading to underemployment as well as unemployment among adult immigrants. The HEIDI project addresses this challenge.
Â
The overarching objectives of the project are to:Â
- To prepare the labour market to better integrate immigrant workers, through the evaluation and development of the qualifications of adult immigrants, within the framework of the EU Employment guidelines.
The special objectives of the project are to:
- improve skills identification when screening, and the career counselling and guidance procedures for adult immigrants so that they can better access newer adult learning opportunities.
- enhance and enable career support mechanisms for adult immigrants to assess and develop soft skills. These soft skills can help improve existing competences, and immigrant employability in general.
The target groups of the project are:
Adult immigrants
Adult education centres
Career guidance centres
Employers and businesses
Governmental agencies
Organisations representing immigrants
